National Historic Landmark for its role in hosting Cubans as they fled communist Cuba for Florida following the 1959 Cuban Revolution. On October 6, 2008, it was designated a U.S. On September 10, 1979, Freedom Tower was added to the U.S. It is located at 600 Biscayne Boulevard on Miami Dade College's Wolfson Campus. It is currently used as a contemporary art museum and a central office to different disciplines in the arts associated with Miami Dade College. The Freedom Tower ( Spanish: Torre de la Libertad) is a building in Miami, Florida, designed by Schultze and Weaver. Not long after the start of construction, a new battle with the insurers of the World Trade Center resulted from the reconfiguration of the lease. After lengthy and combative negotiations that resulted in a reconfigured lease agreement between the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (the owner of the World Trade Center) and Larry Silverstein (the leaseholder of the complex), construction of the Freedom Tower began on April 27, 2006.Expected topping out is in 2012 and completion is planned in 2013 with a total cost of more than 3 billion US-$. Foundation work is fully completed in 2009 and the towers steel begun to rise towards the sky. The stone was then removed in mid 2006 as foundation work for the tower began.
